Scientists in the Making

Mrs. Brown-Tucker’s 5th grade class spent their morning exploring science with a fun investigation. They were responsible for adding mass to a cup by taping pennies to it and measuring the mass using gram blocks and a scale. The students then used a ruler and books to create a ramp for a marble to roll down. They released the marble to let it roll down into the cup and see how far the cup would move given different mass. They concluded that the cup moved further when it had less mass. The students did an awesome job working together, collecting data, measuring mass and distance, and discussing their findings. It was a great morning watching these future scientists hard at work. Way to work hard Raiders!
